Home Information Packs or HIPs and Home Pack Providers.have been introduced for Home-owners and the sale of residential property by estate agents and private individuals will be transformed by the introduction of the Home Information Pack and HIP Providers.

Hips - It is now a legal requirement to have Home Information Packs throughout England & Wales.

Home Information Packs: As part of the Governments new initiative a HIPs timetable has now been confirmed as part of the implementation rollout.

EPCs will be required for all other properties in the future including social housing and rental property sectors. Home Information Packs will require the production of millions of EPCs and home surveys will be required each year for HIPs . SAP assessment will also be required for commercial and industrial property, the combined task presents many jobs for the Home Inspector and Domestic Energy Assessors. The Home Information Pack is the biggest change in property sales in recent years and contains many legal documents which are available to both the buyer and seller.

Home Information Packs: The production of a Home Condition Report is voluntary at this time. Some leasehold properties are subject to additional legal documentation, this is considered in our guide.

There are cases when property is exempt from the Home Information Pack, detailed in our guidance page. The Home Condition Report is explained in further detail under "HCR".
